The Summer Festival concludes with the Merola Grand Finale, a concert featuring the young artists of the 2021 Merola Opera Program. They will perform in a thrilling array of selections from some of opera’s most brilliant works. The concert will be directed by 2021 Merola Stage Director Audrey Chait.

Audrey Chait, Stage Director

Audrey Chait is a director, writer, and producer of opera and theater. In the 2020-2021 season, Ms. Chait directs the world premiere of Marie Begins for Westminster Opera Theater (online release), The Telephone for Parea Recital Series (online release), Gallantry for Northern Kentucky University (online release), Don Pasquale for Opera Las Vegas, and L’inganno felice for Opera Southwest. Her new adaptation of L’elisir d’amore premieres at Tri-Cities Opera in May 2021.

In the 2019-2020 season, Ms. Chait directed The Bartered Bride and the North American premiere of Dark Star Requiem, both at CCM, and La fille du regiment for Winter Opera St. Louis. Other recent credits include Dinner at Eight and the Bach St. John Passion for CCM, La cenerentola with Opera Las Vegas, Scalia/Ginsburg with Opera North, and Magic Flute Outreach Tour with Kentucky Opera. Ms. Chait’s production of L’elisir d’amore for Winter Opera St. Louis was nominated for a St. Louis Theater Circle Award for Best Opera. Ms. Chait holds a BA in Literary Arts from Brown University and an Artist Diploma from CCM. She is currently on the faculty at Northern Kentucky University, where she teaches Opera Workshop. She is a 2019 recipient of the NOA JoElyn Wakefield-Wright Stage Director Fellowship, and is the resident director of the Parea Recital Series.
